RIP Trolling And The Tale Of The Juggalo Funeral

Okay, if you bare with me here for a minute I will explain how I came across this incredibly bizarre and fucked up story. So I was reading an article on Gawker about "RIP trolling", which is when a group of sadistic people on the Internet troll memorial pages set up to honor young people tragically killed.  It is a horrible new trend, and people have even been sent to jail for crossing the line.

After I finished up reading the article, I started checking out the comment section, a staple for the Gawker brand.  A breeding ground for snack comments and intelligent augments.  However I was stopped dead in my tracks when I got to a comment from the user puddingcupbeard, that featured the above photo and a story about his first encounter with people RIP trolling.

Apparently, a few years back a mother in Chicago had a stillborn child due to drug use during her pregnancy.  This woman was a Juggalo, and reached out to "the family" for support during her time of grieving.  Below is the message she posted on her MySpace page, user name "Juggalo Ho" (fathers name "Druggalo JK47").

During the wake she dressed her dead child up in full on ICP attire, equipped with a gold chain and beanie. I opted not to post the picture on this site out of respect for the baby, but if you would like to see it for yourself, click here.   The funeral was predictably unusual, which is to be expected in any event where guests are encouraged to wear "ANYTHING PSYCHOPATHIC GEAR". The casket featured gun-dueling aliens, the knife-wielding psycho records guy, some stars and oh yea, IT LOOKS LIKE A BEER COOLER!

Now if you're sitting there wondering to yourself why I have the right to draw attention to/make fun of someones grieving process, the reason is this:  After Juggalo Ho sent out her MySpace request asking for money for her grief, she got in touch with ICP's management and they told her they would gladly send her some free merchandise to ease the pain.  When the promised memorabilia never came, she went on a local radio show to do an interview because some of the guys who worked at the station were apparently friends with Violent Jay and Shaggy 2 Dope.  The interview (which can heard here) features her briefly mention the loss of her daughter, the remainder of her time on air was spent bitching about how she never received her free memorabilia from the band.  

That interview was just what the trollers were looking for and she subsequently became the butt of meme jokes everywhere (ex. "Gone, Baby Gone" featured at top).  Now while I typically don't condone that kind of negative online behavior, (I think it not only is bad karma, but if you put out that kind of negative energy it's going to come right back at you) in the case of the Juggalo mom I think it was warranted.  You can't exploit your child's death for free ICP merch.  Life doesn't work that way.
