Dave Matthews Band To Play Two Sets Per Night For The Duration Of Their Summer 2014 Tour

Last week we broke the news of the Dave Matthews Band 2014 Summer tour dates, and today the band made it official on their website. The 40 show lineup gets underway May 16th in The Woodlands, Texas and runs through Labor Day, wrapping up September 6th in Irvine, California.

But the tour date confirmation wasn't the only big news to come from Tuesday's press release. DMB announcing that they will be playing two sets per show during their summer tour, in what the band is calling "A Very Special Evening With The Dave Matthews Band." The group will play career-spanning set lists, alternating between electric and acoustic, including fan favorite duet performances between Dave Matthews and guitarist Tim Reynolds.

When questioned about how the idea for this summer's unique shows came about, Matthews said "I was talking to Carter [Beauford, drums] about how much I still like just sitting around playing music together. It's how we started – in the basements of Carter's and my mom's houses. Our shows are loose, but we started thinking that maybe this summer we should make them looser and bring some of that feeling to the stage. It seems like the opposite of a safe plan, so why not?"

Tickets go on sale Thursday, January 16th for Warehouse members, followed by a February 3rd presale for Citi cardmembers. Meanwhile the general public will be able to get their hands on tickets Friday, February 7th at 10 am eastern time for all shows excluding the Gorge (Aug. 29-31), which go onsale February 21st.
